Q: Why should I consider hiring a
professional make-up artist for my wedding day?
A: There
are so many reasons why it's a good idea to hire a
professional. On the big day, you may be too nervous
or stressed to do your own make-up. This is definitely
a time when you need the pampering and rejuvenating
effects of professional service.
It's important to remember that professionally
applied make-up will stay on longer and will look
better while it does. A professional can ensure that
make-up is designed to enhance your appearance in
your wedding photographs, since the flashbulb can
often cause a washed-out effect. Professionally applied
make-up creates the perfect balance between looking
great on film and in real life.
Make-up services have now joined the
ranks of other wedding experts, such as dressmakers,
hairstylists and florists. You need a complete team
to make sure your event is exactly what you've dreamed.
Q: Should I have a trial/rehearsal
make-up before my wedding?
A: Having
a trial make-up done in advance allows you and your
make-up artist to get to know each other. It's also
a time to experiment and design the best possible
look. The final and established look is charted for
duplication for the big day. This appointment is also
the perfect time to talk about the "total" bridal
party look. Recommendations for beauty services prior
to and on the wedding day are covered, as well as
co-ordination and scheduling of these services. All
in all, an advance trial session is the best way to
put restless minds at ease.
Q: When should I have my trial/rehearsal
make-up done?
A: Plan
it for a day when you have another important occasion
to attend. This way you'll be able to test out the
look to make sure you feel comfortable and beautiful.
Make sure to take notes if you'd like any adjustments
for your big day.
Q: What about touch-ups?
A: Touch-up
tips are demonstrated at the end of your make-up application,
so that you can personally maintain your look throughout
the wedding celebrations. However, for humid, hot
out door events it is a factor to consider booking
additional time for touch-ups following photographs,
before services. Arrangements can be made to have
an on-location make-up artist before photographs,
or at any other time.
Q: I'm thinking of wearing false
eye lashes for the day of my wedding, but every time
I try them on they look so obvious. Any tips?
A: Most
of Hollywood's beauties and brides use two or three
tufts of false eyelashes at the outer edge of their
eyes for instant, subtle eye sophistication. Daring
dames utilize full strip lashes for all-out glamour
effects. If you're curious, let me help find the look
that's best for you.
Q: Describe your favourite wedding
experience.
A: A few
of my clients have created a lovely wedding day spa
experience for the bridal party. On arrival, each
guest receives a plush personally monogrammed robe.
(They get to keep it as a thank-you gift.) While make-up,
hair and manicures are underway, champagne flows and
delicious light foods are served. The bride's favourite
tunes play in the background - carefully selected
and custom "burned", with copies for each guest to
keep as a souvenir. Surprises, laughter and tears
are recorded by all taking turns with the digital
camera.
Creating the perfect balance of relaxation
and anticipation, a bridal spa party is a lovely and
memorable way of celebrating close family and friends
before the big moment.
Q: What's you favourite "bridal"
colour of lipstick?
A: Any colour
in the red-violet colour family looks gorgeous on
brides. Whether the shade is soft or strong, this
sophisticated, sublimely sexy colour makes the most
of mouths without ever looking false.
